So Hubby and I were craving for Bulalo but you can't find that dish here in UAE unless you make one yourself. Hubby and I had to find a recipe online that will work for us since we don't have a pressure cooker at home and we were amazed at how good it tasted. So here's the recipe for our homemade bulalo:
Ingredients:
1 kilo beef shank
1 pork cube
3-4 onions, sliced
Whole Peppercorns
Pechay
2 tbsp Patis
Spring onions
Green Chili
Lemon or kalamansi
Cooking Instructions:
1. Fill casserole with water and let it boil.
2. When the water boils, add the beef, beef cubes, peppercorns and onions. Continue to let it boil before covering the casserole. If you’re cooking without a pressure cooker, add a stainless spoon to help soften the beef.
3. Simmer for 2 and a half hours.
4. Season with patis.
5. Add spring onions and pechay and let is simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Serve and Enjoy!
For dipping sauce:
Mix 2 tbsp patis with minced green chili. Squeeze 1 tbsp of lemon or kalamansi.
Serves 3-4 people.
